Masked man robs Paisley shop with a knife
He made off with a three-figure sum
A shopkeeper has been robbed by a masked man who threatened him with a knife in Renfrewshire.
No-one was injured in the incident at the Value Right Local shop in Barscube Terrace, Paisley, at about 1.20pm on Tuesday.
The suspect threatened a member of staff with a knife and demanded money before escaping with a three-figure sum of money.
Police say the shopkeeper has been left badly shaken as a result of the robbery.
The suspect is described as slim and 5ft 7ins. He was wearing a black hooded top and navy blue trousers.
He was also wearing a black balaclava in an effort to conceal his face and black gloves.
He left the shop and got on a silver mountain bike before heading off in the direction of Hunterhill Road.
Officers are conducting door-to-door enquiries and will be gathering CCTV footage for review.
Detective Sergeant Michael Lochrie said: This incident occurred around lunchtime in a well-established residential area.
I am appealing to members of the local community to consider what they may have seen, it may seem an insignificant event but it could prove vital and help us identify the suspect.
Perhaps you noticed the suspect either prior to or following the incident, did you see someone on a silver mountain bike?
The shop is regularly used by members of the local community and I'm sure someone will have seen something which could assist our investigation.''
