Maryhill man left with head injury after serious assault at Tesco’s

The three men suspected to have ambushed the man are still at large

Detectives at Maryhill Police Station are continuing enquiries and appealing for witnesses following a serious assault outside Tesco Extra on Maryhill Road, Glasgow in the early hours of Tuesday the 8th of May 2018. Around 02.45am on Tuesday morning, a man standing the bus stop outside a Tesco’s on Maryhill Road was approached and attacked by a group of three men.

The 33-year-old’s friend came to help and the group ran off along Maryhill road before turning right onto Shakespeare Street. The three are described as white and in their early 20s.

Witnesses flagged down a passing police car and an ambulance was called. The injured man was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he received treatment for a head injury.

Officers are checking CCTV footage from around the area for any additional detail on the suspects.

Detective Constable Andrew Barbour said:

“The motive for this attack is unknown, this man has been subjected to an unprovoked attack. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area of Maryhill Road around the time of the incident who may have seen something connected to the crime. Perhaps you saw the three young men running off after the attack, or you may have seen them hanging around outside the store prior to the incident taking place. Any small piece of information could help our enquiries, please do pass your information on.”
