Lanarkshire-born Mark Millar and his wife have bought families in the housing estate where he used to stay tickets to a private screening of Toy Story 4 at Showcase Cinema in Coatbridge.

The Coatbridge writer has inspired a string of massive Holywood blockbusters including 'Kick-Ass', 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' and 'Captain America: Civil War' through his comic book work.

Free tickets are being handed out on after services on Sunday 28th July at St. Bartholomews Church and Townhead Parish Church.

However, some hopeful Toy Story fans could be disappointed as it's limited to 200 spaces with a maximum of 2 tickets per person.

The Marvel and DC Comics star made the announcement on social media, posting on Twitter:

"Wanna see Toy Story 4 for free in the school holidays? My wife & I have bought 200 tix for families in my old housing estate."

The screening, which is sponsored by Millar's charitable trust The Millar Foundation, will be at 2pm on Friday 2nd August 2019. He set up the charity alongside his wife Linda Millar in 2017 to redevelop the Townhead area of Coatbridge.
