Man wearing two pairs of glasses steals thousands from city centre bookmakers

At around 9.30pm, a man entered Ladbrokes Bookmakers on Renfield Street and threatened staff with a weapon. He demanded money and made off in the direction of West George Street towards St Vincent Street with a four-figure sum of money.
No-one was injured in the incident, however, a member of staff was left badly shaken by the incident. CCTV footage is being checked by officers as they try to obtain further detail about the suspect.
The suspect is described as a white man, around 5ft10, 50-60 years-old with white/grey stubble. At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark fisherman’s cap, square rimmed glasses, with brown sunglasses worn above his glasses (level with his forehead), a blue/grey waterproof jacket, a dark coloured jumper and a blue and white scarf.
Detective Constable Joseph Keith, from the Community Investigation Unit based at Pollok, said today:
“I’m appealing for anyone with any information to contact us regarding this robbery. The City Centre was busy at the time of the incident, and we know from CCTV that he ran past a number of people as he made his escape through the town.
“We are conducting door to door enquiries and continuing to analyse available CCTV. Any information you have, no matter how small, could make a real difference as part of our broader investigation.”
