Man tried to hold up bookies with what looked a gun

Staff alarmed but suspect left empty-handed - Police appeal for witnesses

A MAN tried to hold up a Glasgow bookies last night with what looked like a black handgun

Police say the suspect targeted the William Hill shop on Crow Road just before 8 and threatened a member of staff but left empty-handed

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 6 and of medium build. He is in his 30s and was wearing grey jogging bottoms with a distinctive red long sleeve top, a black snood, black hat and black glasses. He was also carrying a black drawstring bag.

Constable Stuart Stevens said: “This was a frightening experience for the member of staff, who fortunately was not injured in the incident. I’m appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time or was driving, especially in the nearby supermarket, and has dash cam footage to get in touch via 101 quoting ref number 3347 of 9 October 2020.”
