Man to go on trial accused of causing crash that injured Rangers star Jermain Defoe
The striker was hurt in the collision in Jordanhill last September
A man is to stand trial accused of causing a crash in Glasgow that left Rangers striker Jermain Defoe injured.
James Turner, 24, was allegedly driving dangerously on Balshagray Avenue, Jordanhill last September when his BMW M4 crossed the central reservation and collided with two vehicles on the opposite carriageway.
It is said the Peugeot 308 and Land Rover Sport then collided with a Mercedes-Benz A 200.
The incident allegedly “caused damage to said vehicles and injury to Jermain Defoe and Nicole Leonard.”
Defoe, 37, was in action that day having scored in a 5-0 win at Ibrox against Aberdeen.
A trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court was postponed today due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The case was dealt with administratively and a new trial date is set for October this year.
Turner, from East Kilbride, pleaded not guilty, and remains on bail meantime.
