A man is to stand trial accused of the murder of Thomas Milne

Joseph Elder, 32, is said to have carried out the offence on Mr Milne in the city's Possilpark on August 15, this year, while masked

Prosecutors claim Elder struck Mr Milne repeatedly on the head and body with a knife and attempted to strike him with a hammer and murdered him

Elder is also accused of assaulting Nicola Carty by striking her repeatedly on the head with a hammer.

He faces a third charge of attempting to strike Sharon Kennedy with a knife or similar instrument.

All the charges are alleged to have taken place in Saracen Street.

Elder appeared at the High Court in Glasgow today/ yesterday (Fri) and a trial date has been set for next year.

He denies the charges and has lodged a special defence of self defence.
