Man who previously threatened to bomb Ibrox Stadium and Barlinnie Prison makes bogus emergency calls

A man who previously threatened to bomb Ibrox Stadium and Barlinnie Prison was back in court this week regarding another bogus call offence.

Thomas Flanigan dialled 999 last Sunday to report a fire at his home in Kelvinbridge.

Flanigan repeatedly called the fire service stating he could smell smoke.

The 23-year old pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to making the bogus call and acting in a threatening and abusive manner at a police station.

Flanigan confessed to shouting, swearing and uttering racial and sectarian remarks at Govan police office.

He was bailed by Sheriff Colin Dunipace and will be sentenced at the end of the month.

Sheriff Dunpipace said: "If you go out and do this again, you will be locked up."

Flanigan replied: "I’m not going to."

Sheriff Dunipace responded: "Your record will show that you have probably said this before."

Flanigan avoided jail in August for a bogus call to Barlinnie Prison.

He told prison staff "he was going to blow up the jail and that he was around the corner."

The drunk lout was arrested by police at his home that night.

He was previously handed an 18 month community payback order which put him under the supervision of a social worker.
