A man rushed to hospital by ambulance this morning was found unwell, rather than injured, police have confirmed.

Reports earlier today suggested the man was taken to University Hospital Monklands after being discovered in the Greengairs area of Airdrie.

Now Police Scotland say they're trying to figure out what happened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.40 am on Monday, 12 April, 2021, a 53-year-old man was found lying seriously unwell in wooded area near to Meikle Drumgray Road, Greengairs, Airdrie."

“He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital, Monklands."

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish how he came to be there.”
