Police are appealing for information following a road rage incident in Glasgow.

A 40 year old man suffered a serious head injury after he was assaulted by the driver of a blue VW Golf whilst sitting in his silver VW Vectra on Shettleston Road, near to its junction wtih Duke Street, in the east end around 1145 hours on Saturday morning.

He was taken by ambulance to the GRI where he was treated and has since been released.

The driver of the Golf is described as white, in his 30s, of medium build, 5 ft 10 in height and has shaved dark.

He was wearing a green fleece and it is thought he had an Irish accent.

Detective Constable Craig Paterson, Shettleston CID, is appealing for witnesses. He said: “The two cars had been travelling west on Shettleston Road, Glasgow, when as they approached the junction with Duke St, the drivers were involved in an altercation with each other which resulted in the driver of the Golf getting out of his car and punching the man as he sat in the driver’s seat of his car.

“At this time we are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the assault. So far there is no trace of the car on CCTV in the area, however, enquiries are continuing to trace the Golf which made off prior to police arrival from Duke Street into the Forge Market Car Park.

“I would ask that anyone who witnessed the assault or who recognises the description of the man contact the CID at Shettleston Police Office via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
