Man stabbed in Girvan street in daylight
A man has died in suspicious circumstances after a street disturbance.
It's thought a man who died in Girvan yesterday was stabbed after confronting a vandal who was targeting his car.
Emergency services raced to the town's Park Avenue yesterday morning at 11am after reports of a disturbance.
It was there they found the injured man, who's been named locally as 44-year-old John Kiltie - a Stagecoach bus driver.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses and Stagecoach have released a statement to say their thoughts are with the family.
A police spokeswoman said: “Upon attendance a man, who is yet to be identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death.
“The death is being treated as suspicious at this time and inquiries are ongoing.”
A Just Giving Page has been set up to help his family.
