Man Slashed In Irvine

A man's been slashed in a serious assault in Irvine.

The 27-year-old was walking in Dickson Drive in Irvine, North Ayrshire, at around 12.25am on Friday when he was approached from behind by a man who then assaulted him.

The victim was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where he received treatment for a laceration to his face and was later released.

The suspect is described as a white male with a local accent, who was wearing dark-coloured clothing.

Detective Constable Fionntan Rankin, of Saltcoats Police Office, said: At this time inquiries are ongoing to establish more detail on this attack and to trace the man responsible.
