Man seriously hurt in attack by armed gang
A man has been taken to hospital after a violent and sustained attack.
The incident happened at around 10.40pm on Tuesday in William Street, Hamilton.
Police said the 25-year-old victim had just got out of his car when three men attacked him with a mix of sharp and blunt weapons''.
They said the "incredibly violent and sustained attack'' may have been pre-planned.
He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital, East Kilbride, where his condition is described as serious but stable.
The three attackers were all wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.
Detective Inspector Alan MacDonald said police are speaking to the local community to identify those responsible.
He said: "Did you see three men hanging around the area? William Street is a dead end and therefore they must have entered and exited the same way.''
