Man in serious condition following attempted murder in Glasgow

Detectives are continuing enquiries following at attempted murder in West George Street on Saturday 20 August 2016.

Around 0245 hours, police received a report that a man had been injured in West George Street, Glasgow. Emergency services attended and the 40 year old man was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as serious.

Enquiries are continuing to establish what has happened and officers are in the process of gathering CCTV footage for review.

Police are treating the attack as attempted murder.

Detective Sergeant Phil Kennedy said:

“It’s clear from our initial enquiries that this man has been the victim of a serious assault. We are in the process of establishing the man’s movements and trying to find out the exact circumstances of the attack. We will of course be reviewing CCTV footage collected from the various cameras in the city centre to gain additional information but I’m appealing to anyone who may have been in the area last night to contact us. Please pass on any information you may have, it could prove vital in our ongoing enquiries into this violent attack.”
