Police are hunting for a man seen running from a car after it crashed through the front of a shop in East Ayrshire.

Officers received a report of a black Audi TT smashing through the window of the Spar on Kilmarnock Road in Crosshouse at around 1.25am on Monday.

Police have asked for witnesses, or those with CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward.

"Our inquiries into the full circumstances of this incident are in their early stages and any information could prove vital," said Detective Sergeant Sarah Holland.

"There will be extra patrols in the area, as officers investigate the incident and engage with the local community.

"If you believe you can assist us, please call 101, quoting incident 0180 of August 29."

Graham Rannochan works at the nearby Camerons Buchers and got a shock when he arrived at work.

He told Clyde 1 News: “I arrived at about quarter past 6 and saw the police car, and then I saw the car illegally parked in the Spar!

“Other than that we don’t know much. Rumours are going about but you’ll never you the truth until it comes out in the wash.”
