Around 3:20am on Sunday 30 July, a 37-year-old man was sitting in a bus shelter near to the Tron Theatre when he was approached by three men who punched him and robbed him of his wallet and mobile phone.

The three men who are believed to be Romanian then made off and the 37-year-old man contacted police.

The 37-year-old man sustained a swollen eye but did not seek medical help at this time.

Detective Constable Vhairi MacDonald from the city centre police station at Stewart St, Glasgow said: “This was a totally unprovoked attack on a man who was just trying to make his way home after a night out in the town.

“The Trongate area would have been busy at this time in the morning, with various clubs in the area having just closed and many people making their way home. I’d like to speak to any of these people who may have witnessed this robbery or perhaps saw the three men hanging around the area.”
