A man led police officers to his cannabis farm after complaining that he was ill. Vytautas Dumasius was caught with the drugs worth up to £26,400 at a property in Glasgow's Pollokshaws on May 18, 2021.

Vytautas had earlier been caught with co-accused Donatas Dumasius at separate cultivation site in the city's Cathcart.

Vytautas later told officers when held that he was a diabetic who required medication from his flat.

Officers raided the flat which discovered the further drugs inside.

The pair pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to producing cannabis.

The court heard that the Cathcart flat was initially raided and found to contain 79 "healthy" cannabis plants.

Prosecutor Mark Allan told the court that the value of the drugs ranged between £15,800 and £47,400.

Both men appeared at the property following the raid and they were arrested before being held in custody.

Mr Allan said: "Vytautas identified that he was a diabetic and required his medication.

"He provided the police with his address which was the Pollokshaws address.

"Police attended and identified a cannabis production operation ongoing."

A further 49 plants were found with the value ranging between £8,800 and £26,400.

A total of £2,730 in cash was found in one of the properties.

Sentence was deferred pending background reports by Sheriff Paul Reid.

He told the pair: "Please don't read anything into your bail being continued.

"These are serious matters and the value of the drugs is substantial - a custodial sentence is a real option."
