Man killed in Newhouse crash

A man has died and another is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash involving a car and a lorry.

The collision happened on the B7066 Glasgow/Edinburgh Road near Newhouse, North Lanarkshire, just before 3pm on Tuesday.

The 29-year old man driving the car died following the crash, Police Scotland said.

His 23-year-old passenger was taken to Wishaw General Hospital, where staff described his condition as serious.
