A man who tried to send almost £230,000 of drug money to England has been jailed for four years.

Kevin Foley, 47, pled guilty to passing a suitcase full of the illegal cash to a woman who was set to take it over the border.

The case was found to contain £229,250 after police seized it at a motorway service station.

He was tracked down by police in July after moving to Portugal in 2014, when he returned to Scotland for a family wedding.

He was sentenced at Glasgow High Court.

Procurator Fiscal Liam Murphy said: "We will not only prosecute for the supply of controlled drugs, but we will also target the proceeds of this crime.

Foley has been convicted and the money confiscated, further disrupting his criminal activity.
