A dad-of-five linked by his DNA to a stash of bullets found near a Bearsden golf club has been locked up for 32 months.

Jamie Morgan was held following the find in February 2017.

Police had carried out a search close to the private Windyhill Golf Club.

Officers discovered a black bin bag with three revolver guns as well as a knotted sock containing a quantity of ammunition.

Forensic tests were then carried out on the items.

Morgan was one of “two major DNA contributors” found on the ammunition.

The 28 year-old returned to the High Court in Glasgow having earlier pleaded guilty to possessing the bullets without the relevant firearm certificate.

Lord Mulholland told him: “This was ammunition that you looked after for an un-named person for £1,000.

“This city has all too often seen the tragic effects of firearms and ammunition.”

Ewen Roy, defending, said Morgan, of Birmingham, realised he was “thoughtless and reckless” getting involved.

The lawyer added: “He rues the day he accepted the offer.”

Mr Roy also told the court Morgan's partner was due to give birth early next year.
