Man jailed for trying to kill delivery driver in Hamilton
Fraser Rankin repeatedly stabbed Waseem Sabar in Portland Place in May 2020.
A man who tried to kill a delivery driver in Hamilton has been jailed for seven years.
Fraser Rankin repeatedly stabbed Waseem Sabar in Portland Place on May 19 2020.
The 28 year-old was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow having earlier been convicted of attempted murder.
Judge Tom Hughes told Rankin he had "foolishly escalated" a supposed issue with the delivery of a package.
He added: "The victim sustained life threatening injuries. He had to undergo emergency life-saving surgery."
Rankin, of Blantyre, Lanarkshire, will also be supervised for a further two years on his release.
The court heard Rankin accepted assaulting Mr Sabar, but denied it was attempted murder.
His KC said he came from a "law abiding and hard working family".
Thomas Ross, defending, added: "He does accept his behaviour has had consequences for (Mr Sabar).
"It can only be hoped he learns his lesson from this sentence that will be imposed."
