Man jailed after attacking police officers in Drumchapel
Dylan Haldane will spend three years behind bars following the incident in June
A man who bit a police officer on the hand and kicked another in the face in Drumchapel has been jailed for three years.
Dylan Haldane also filmed patients and was verbally abusive during a separate incident at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard the 32-year-old went on a ‘catalogue of chaos’ between last July and June this year.
Haldane – who was reportedly attacked himself in 2019 - pleaded guilty on Wednesday to numerous police assaults and acting in a threatening or abusive manner.
The court heard Haldane was found asleep and drunk on a road last July and was taken to hospital.
Prosecutor Cheryl Lyons said he ended up in casualty where he filmed police officers, medical staff and patients.
Haldane lashed out at one constable after being warned to stop.
He branded the officer a “beast” and threatened to harm his family.
Haldane later breached coronavirus regulations in June this year by being at his sister’s home in the city’s Drumchapel.
He confronted officers before biting one on the hand when handcuffs were slapped on him.
Miss Lyons added: “This caused the skin to break along with slight bruising to his thumb.”
Haldane later spat blood at two more officers and kicked another in the face.
Susan Gibson, defending, told the court the dad-of-three was sorry for his behaviour.
Sheriff Joan Kerr told Haldane: “You have had a litany of difficulties with police who were trying to assist you and you chose to assault them.
“You have been given community disposals before and you have not benefited from that.
“The only suitable disposal is a custodial sentence.”
