A man is being treated for a serious leg injury after a hit and run in Greenock.

The 38-year-old was hit by a lorry on Inverkip Road at 6:35pm on Friday - the driver didn't stop and kept going towards Port Glasgow.

Police say it was a Mercedes Artic and they're checking through CCTV footage to try and find the driver.

The road was closed to let officers investigate.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “I am appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to contact us.

"We are conducting inquiries to locate the driver of the lorry, who failed to stop.

"I would ask any motorists with dash cams who were in and around that area to check the footage as it may have captured images of the lorry which could assist in our investigation.”
