Man seriously injured in Blantyre attack

Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault in Blantyre on Sunday 21 April 2019. Around 7.40pm a 36-year old man was walking along Broompark Road when he was approached by two other men.

One of the men hit him with a bottle before punching and kicking him.

The suspect, and the man he was with, then walked back down Broompark Road towards Stonefield Road.

The victim was taken to Hairmyres Hospital where he received treatment for head and facial injuries. He was later released.

The suspect is described as in his early 30s, 5ft6 to 5ft7, of stocky build, and wearing a pale blue short sleeved shirt and green shorts.

The man he was with is described as around 50 years old, 6ft2, of heavy build, bald, and wearing a white t-shirt, blue and white shorts and white trainers.

Detective Constable Derek Young from Cambuslang CID said: “This was a violent attack, possibly targeted on the victim, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Broompark Road on Sunday evening and either witnessed the assault, or noticed two men matching the above descriptions, to please get in touch.
