Man in serious condition after Moodiesburn hit and run

A man’s been seriously injured in a hit and run in Moodiesburn.

The 23 year old was crossing Stoneyetts Road near the junction of Gartferry Road in the early hours of Friday morning when he was struck by silver coloured Ford Fiesta car. The driver of the car failed to stop.

The victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he remains in a serious condition.

Shortly after midnight a Ford Fiesta was seen driving alongside a grey coloured Vauxhall Corsa in Central Way, Cumbernauld.

After that, the cars travelled along the A8011 and onto the M80, M73, A80 in the Moodiesburn and Chryston areas.

The vehicles then arrived at Stoneyetts Road, Moodiesburn, when the Ford Fiesta struck the 23 year old man and made off, turning right onto Gartferry Road.

The road was closed for several hours as officers conducted enquiries.

Officers are appealing for any information and asking motorists in the areas during this time to check their dash cam footage.
