48 year old suffers serious head injury in attack in flat in the town

A man's suffered a serious head injury in an attack in Paisley police are treating as attempted murder.

Emergency services were called to a flat in Auchentorlie Quadrant at around 07:50 hours yesterday morning and discovered the 48-year-old with serious injuries.

He was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley initially but was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is currently being treated for a serious head injury.

He was in a critical condition but has improved and hospital staff describe him as stable. Detective Inspector Tom Carty at Paisley CID said: “We are currently treating this incident as attempted murder as the injuries sustained are very serious and consistent of an assault having taken place. “Our enquiries so far have revealed that there was some sort of disturbance within the flat either on Sunday or during the night into Monday morning therefore I am keen to speak to anyone who has heard a disturbance or seen people coming or going in Auchentorlie Quadrant between 0730 hrs on Sunday 8 January to 0800 hrs on Monday 9 January to contact police immediately.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Paisley CID via 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
