Man in hospital after one car crash near High Blantyre

Officers say the road is now fully open again.

A 27-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after a car crashed on the A725 westbound near the High Blantyre junction this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9.40am before he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

A second accident then happened eastbound between an HGV and a car.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a one-car crash on the A725 westbound near the High Blantyre junction at around 9.40am on Sunday, 31 July, 2022.

“Emergency services attended and a 27-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

“A separate crash involving a car and an HGV occurred shortly after on the eastbound carriageway. There were no reports of any injuries.

“The eastbound carriageway was fully re-opened at around 11.55am and the westbound carriageway re-opened around 12.30pm.”
