Man found guilty of killing dad of 8 in Roystonhill
Anthony McKellar fatally struck Andrew Salina on the neck during an attack at the victim's home last April.
A man described as looking 'pure evil' killed a dad-of-eight after a row.
Anthony McKellar fatally struck Andrew Salina on the neck during an attack at the victim's home in Roystonhill, Glasgow last April.
Mr Salina had managed to say after being hit: 'There's no need for that, Tony.'
But, he never recovered as McKellar left the blood-soaked 51 year-old.
McKellar (24) had gone trial accused of Mr Salina's murder.
But, he was instead found guilty of the reduced charge of culpable homicide at the High Court in Glasgow.
Lord Armstrong said he had still been convicted of a 'grave crime' as sentencing was deferred until next month.
McKellar, of the city's Whiteinch, was remanded in custody meantime.
Simon Healy (26), of Toryglen, Glasgow, also stood trial for murder, but the jury found him not guilty.
The killer had initially denied to police knowing Mr Salina or being in his flat.
But, the court heard words had been exchanged between the men there in the early hours of April 10 last year.
In his closing speech to the jury, prosecutor Ian Wallace said: 'It is the Crown case that it was Anthony McKellar who struck Andrew Salina on the neck.'
McKellar was described as having 'a pure evil look on his face'.
He and others were soon seen spotted 'in a rush to leave'.
After the verdict, Mr Wallace said Mr Salina's wife and sister had prepared victim impact statements for Lord Armstrong to read.
No details of the contents were given in court.
But, shortly after the killing, wife Jacqueline was quoted as saying: 'I'm totally devastated.
'I've got kids here and I've had to tell them that their dad is gone.'
Sentencing was adjourned for reports.
