Man fighting for life after ending up on tracks near Coatbridge railway station

A man is in a life-threatening condition in hospital after being pulled from the tracks near Coatbridge Central railway station this morning.

Emergency crews were called just after 7am.

It is not known how he ended up on the track.

Services between Coatbridge and Motherwell were temporarily affected.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "We were called to the line near Coatbridge Central railway station at 7.07am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and a man has been taken to a local hospital. At this time his injuries are deemed life-threatening.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious."
