Man 'serious' after Springburn van smash

A 53 year old man is in a serious condition in hospital following a crash on Springburn Road in Glasgow.

A 53 year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital following a road crash in Springburn Road yesterday.

Around 1.25pm on Tuesday afternoon, the 53 year-old man was crossing Springburn Road near to its junction with Keppochhill Road, when he was struck by a Ford Transit Connect van being driven by a 27 year-old man.

Emergency services attended and the injured pedestrian was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

Hospital staff describe his condition as serious.

The driver of the van was uninjured.

Sergeant Mark McGowan based at the Trunk Roads Policing Group at Helen Street, Glasgow is appealing for any information.

He said: “At this time our investigation into the crash is continuing. I would urge anyone who witnessed the crash or who has information that may assist our enquiries to contact us through 101. “
