Man dies after stabbing in South Lanarkshire park

A man has died after being stabbed in a South Lanarkshire park earlier this afternoon.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the incident at John Hastie Park in Strathaven around 1:30pm.

It is understood the stabbing happened during a fight.

A post mortem will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of his death which at this time police are treating as suspicious.

Officers are at the scene and enquiries, which are at an early stage, are continuing.
