Man dies after ‘large scale disturbance’ in North Lanarkshire

A man has died and another has been injured after what police describe as a "large scale disturbance'' in North Lanarkshire.

Officers called to Inverkip Drive in Shotts in the early hours of Sunday found a man with serious injuries. Paramedics attended but the man, 41, died at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A post-mortem examination will take place to establish the exact cause of death, which at this time police are treating as suspicious.''

A second man aged 20 was treated for injuries at Wishaw General Hospital before being released.

It is understood officers investigating the incident are following a positive line of inquiry.
