Man dies following accident at sewage works in West Lothian
A man has died after an industrial accident at a sewage plant in West Lothian.
Paramedics rushed to the facility in Whitburn at around half 10 this morning.
The 63-year-old was pronounced dead on his way to hospital.
His name hasn't been made public yet - but next of kin have been informed.
The plant is run by the company Veolia on behalf of Scottish Water.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: ""Police in West Lothian were called to the sewage works in Whitburn at 10.30am on Wednesday 31st January after a man was found seriously injured.
"The 63-year-old was sadly pronounced dead on the way to hospital, and his family now have been informed.
"Enquiries are currently ongoing with the Health & Safety Executive and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
A Scottish Water spokeswoman said: "We are aware of an incident earlier today at the wastewater treatment works in Whitburn.
"Emergency services are attending and we are currently liasing with the operators of the site."
