Man Dies In Fairlie Crash

One man has died and two others have been seriously injured following a road crash in Ayrshire. Emergency services were called out around 10.10am on Saturday 31st October 2015.

Aa southbound Stagecoach bus and a silver Mercedes travelling north collided on the A78, near Hunterston Roundabout in Fairlie. The 53 year old male driver of the Mercedes died at the scene. The male bus driver and a female passenger, were taken by helicopter to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Both are being treated for serious head injuries. A further eight passengers, six women and two men, from the bus were taken by ambulance to either Inverclyde Royal Hospital or Crosshouse Hospital for treatment. The A78 between Hunterston Roundabout and the Clydeport Roundabout is closed. Local diversions are in place. Enquiries into the crash are continuing.
