Police officers were called to a disturbance on Clyde Street in Glasgow City Centre around 4:15am on Thursday.

When they arrived a man ran off along Clyde Street and when the officers followed him, he jumped into the water near the South Portland Street Suspension Bridge.

The Marine Unit, Coastguard, fire and ambulance services were all called and all tried to rescue him but couldn't.

Police say the man's body has been now been recovered but he has not yet been identified.

They can't confirm whether the man was involved in the original disturbance.

Inquiries are ongoing and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
