Man critical after head-on crash in Renfrewshire

A man's in a critical condition in hospital after a head-on crash in Renfrewshire last night.

The 50 year old was at the wheel of a Peugeot 108 driving northbound when the collision with a Seat Toledo heading south happened on the A737 between Lochwinnoch and Howwood at 1830 hours.

The driver of the Seat was released from the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley after treatment.

Sergeant Mark Miller from the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Greenock said:

"Our enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the crash and I would urge any witnesses to the crash, or anyone who saw the Peugeot 108 driving on the A737 before the crash occurred to contact us.

“Anyone with information should contact the Road Policing Unit at Greenock through the non-emergency number 101.”
