A man’s in a critical condition after falling into the River Leven.

The 35-year-old had to be pulled from the River after entering the water from the Bonhill Bridge, close to Susannah Street in Alexandria at around 3.10pm yesterday.

He’s been taken to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: " Around 3.10pm on Friday, police and emergency services responded to reports of a man having fallen into water at the River Leven close to Susannah Street in Alexandria.

"The 35-year-old man was rescued by emergency services and taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, where he remains in a critical condition."
