A man has appeared in court charged with murdering another man in Glasgow's east end.

27 year old Graham Higgins is alleged to have killed Albert McDonald, 58, on June 15 in Riddrie, Glasgow.

He appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court where he made no plea or declaration.

Higgins was remanded in custody by sheriff Joseph Platt.

He is accused of assaulting Mr McDonald at a path near Cumbernauld Road in the Riddrie area of the city.

It is alleged he repeatedly hit him on the head and body, and struck him on the head with a knife or similar object.
