A 48-year-old man has been convicted of murder following the death of Jacqueline Grant in Maryhill, Glasgow.

Michael Dorey plead guilty to murder at the High Court in Glasgow today.

The 54-year-old's body was discovered in her flat in Cumlodden Drive, Maryhill, Glasgow, on Tuesday, 6 April, 2021.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Grainger, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said: "Jacqueline died as a result of a brutal and sustained attack in her own home and her family have been left absolutely devastated.

"Although today’s conviction can’t change what happened, I hope the outcome brings them at least a degree of closure.

"Our thoughts remain with them at this extremely difficult time.

"I would like to thank members of the local community who came forward with vital pieces of information that assisted with our inquiry.

"Violence like this has no place in our society and will continue to work closely with our partners to bring perpetrators to justice."

Michael Dorey is due to be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday, 15 August, 2022.
