Man convicted of raping pensioner in East Kilbride
Scott Forrest, 53, forced the helpless pensioner into his home before carrying out the attack.
A man has been convicted of raping a 77 year-old woman in East Kilbride.
Scott Forrest, 53, forced the helpless pensioner into his home before carrying out the degrading attack.
The distressed victim later turned up at police station bleeding and in tears.
Forrest denied the July 17 2020 crime during a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
He instead made a slur against the OAP by insisting she had appeared at his door and offered him £50 to sleep with her.
Forrest was convicted of rape after jurors returned a unanimous guilty verdict.
Prosecutor Greg Farrell then revealed Forrest was a serial criminal with a string of assault convictions as well as a breach of the peace with a sexual aggravation.
Forrest will return to the dock next month.
Members of the victim's emotional family hugged one another after the verdict.
Forrest had appeared at the pensioner's home and stated: "You are coming with me."
The woman was then held in Forrest's house, pushed onto a chair and her clothes "ripped off".
Forrest - who called the woman "a b****" - added during the horror attack: "You are loving it."
After the woman was able to leave , she later went to a police station to report her ordeal.
Detective Sergeant Lindsay Laird recalled: "She was crying and shaking. She had a skirt on, but no tights."
The woman did not testify in court during the trial.
But, her harrowing police statement was read out which included her saying: "I begged him for me to go home.
"He said okay but to come back tomorrow.
"I was crying, shaking and really upset when I got home.
"I cannot believe he did this to me. It is so cruel. I was petrified he would come after me."
Jobless Forrest later lied to police the woman had instead appeared at his home.
His QC John Scott put to him during the trial: "You said to officers you were going to be paid for having sex with the woman, how much was involved?"
Forrest replied: "£50."
He stated he was paid cash at the end but could not remember where it was.
Forrest claimed he had offered the woman a bacon roll afterwards.
Judge Graham Buchanan deferred sentencing for reports until October 12 in Aberdeen.
