A man has appeared in court charged with battering another man on Hogmanay - and leaving him scarred for life after stamping on his head.
Ryan O'Rourke, of Barrhead, East Renfrewshire, is said to have attacked Paul McEwan at a property in the town's Hawthorn Way on December 31.
Court papers allege he attacked McEwan so severely he knocked him unconscious and left him badly hurt and scarred for life.
Prosecutors claim O'Rourke, 22, and Declan Davidson, 20, repeatedly kicked and punched McEwan until he fell to the ground - then repeatedly jumped and stamped on his head until he lost consciousness.
Both men are also said to have assaulted William Morrow, at the same property on the same day, by punching him on the head and body.
And O'Rourke faces two further charges of having a knife on him in public - whilst he was in Hawthorn Place - and threatening behaviour when taken to the police station.
O'Rourke was detained over the alleged offences and kept in custody at Helen Street police office, in Glasgow's Govan area, before appearing at Paisley Sheriff Court.
He appeared during a private hearing before Sheriff James Spy on Monday, where he was represented by defence solicitor Eamonn McGeehan.
Mr McGeehan said O'Rourke was making no plea or declaration to the charges against him and asked for his client to be released on bail.
Sheriff Spy continued the case against O'Rourke and released him on bail.
No new court dates have been set for the case and a trial is expected to take place in due course.
Although named in the assault charges as having been responsible for the alleged attacks, alongside O'Rourke, Davidson has yet to appear in the dock to face the allegations.
