Man charged with murder on Skye and Wester Ross
The 39-year-old has also been charged with the attempted murder of three others, as the family of 47-year-old John MacKinnon release a statement
A 39-year-old man has now been charged in connection with Mr MacKinnon’s murder and the attempted murder of three others who were injured.
He is expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court tomorrow. (Friday August 12th)
47-year-old John MacKinnon was shot dead in the Teangue area of Skye around 9:30am on Wednesday.
Around half an hour before that, a 32-year-old woman was seriously hurt at a house in the Tarskavaig area.
She is being treated at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Another man, aged 63, is in a critical condition at Raigmore in Inverness.
He and a woman, also 63, were injured in the Dornie area in Wester Ross later that morning.
The woman was taken to Broadford Hospital on Skye, and has since been released.
A man and woman, both aged 63, were then hurt in another shooting, 25 miles away, in Dornie.
The man is in a critical condition.

Family statement
The family of 47-year-old John MacKinnon have released a statement through Police Scotland following his death in Skye yesterday.
They said: “John was a loving husband, father of six, brother, uncle and grandfather to his family, and was a much-loved member of the community.
“John loved the outdoors, was a keen motorcyclist and, as a loved father, shared his activities with his family.”
The family requests that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.
