Man charged over murder of woman in East Kilbride

A man has been charged with the murder of a woman whose body was found at her home in East Kilbride. Louise Aitchison, 33, was pronounced dead when emergency services were called to her home on Park Terrace at 4.30pm on April 30.

Concerns about the occupant of the flat had been reported to the police.

Following a post-mortem on Saturday, Police Scotland said her death was being treated as murder.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with her death and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.

Detective inspector Sandy MacKinnon of the Major Investigation Team said: Our thoughts are with Louise's family at this incredibly difficult time and we are keeping them fully updated on the progress of our enquiries.

As we continue to seek answers for them, I urge anyone who may have information which could be relevant to contact us or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.''
