Man charged with murder in connection with Ardrossan shooting

A man has appeared in court accused of a fatal shooting in North Ayrshire.
James Ferguson has been charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
42-year-old Paul Cairns was injured at a house in Ardrossan shortly before 5pm on Sunday, he died at the scene.
Ferguson was arrested on Monday and appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
The 42-year-old from Kilwinning made no plea and was remanded in custody.
He is expected to appear at court again within the next eight days.
