Man charged in connection with death in Wishaw

A man has been charged in connection with the death of a 24-year-old man in North Lanarkshire.

Thomas Nelson was taken to hospital after police were called to a "disturbance'' in Carron Street, Wishaw, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Officers arrived on scene shortly after 2am and Mr Nelson was taken to University Hospital Wishaw but died a short time later.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with Mr Nelson's death.

He is expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Detective Inspector John Easton from Police Scotland's Major Investigations team said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Thomas at this very difficult time.

"Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding his death are ongoing and we are keen to talk to anyone who may have information or who may have seen what happened.''
