Man charged almost year after death of cyclist on A85

The 74-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene on August 23 last year

A man has been charged in connection with the death of a cyclist almost a year on from a crash on the A85 in Perthshire.

A 74-year-old man was cycling westbound on the major road towards Crianlarich, near Portnellan, when he was involved in a collision with a vehicle.

Emergency services were in attendance following the crash at around 5.45pm on August 23 and the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for around eight hours while police carried out an investigation.

On Sunday (June 19), Police Scotland confirmed a 57-year-old man had been charged in connection with the incident.

The force said a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
