A man has appeared in court charged with carrying weapons in public after an incident in Glasgow city centre. Mohammed Ibrahim Bhutta made no plea or declaration during a private hearing at the city's sheriff court.
The 27-year-old from Glasgow was arrested after reports of a disturbance in Hill Street on Friday morning. He was charged with breach of the peace and assault during the brief appearance at court on Monday, the Crown Office confirmed.
He also faced charges under the section of the Criminal Law (Consolidation) Act which prohibits the carrying of offensive weapons in public and a further charge of obstructing police.
The case was continued for further examination and he was remanded in custody ahead of a next expected court appearance within eight days.
