Man charged after Cambuslang assaults

Two women were treated in hospital after the incident on Thursday

A 34 year old man has been charged in connection with an incident in Cambuslang on Thursday, when two women were assaulted and a flat was set alight.

Police were called to Mill Road around 4.05pm on January 19, to reports of a 16 year old and a 41 year old having been assaulted.

They were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and have since been released.

A 34 year old man has been arrested and charged in connection, and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on January 20.

Detective Inspector Gary Smillie said: "I would again like to extend my thanks to nearby residents who were impacted by this incident for their patience and cooperation and the other emergency services for their support."
