A man has been charged in connection with a knife attack in Glasgow.

It comes after another man's face was slashed in St George's Road, near Clarendon Place, in the west end of the city at about 9.50pm on Sunday.

The 30-year-old was waiting outside a takeaway when he heard two men having a heated argument.

He is said to have intervened to try to calm them down but one of the men slashed him across the face before running off.

The injured man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Police say a 49-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
