Man's body recovered from river near Hamilton

The body of a man has been recovered from the River Clyde near Hamilton.

Police Scotland were alerted at 9.45am on Sunday, after the body was discovered near Bothwell Bridge.

While formal identification is due to take place, the family of 80-year-old Brian Porteous has been informed.

Mr Porteous was reported missing from sheltered housing complex Woodburn Court in Hamilton on March 21.

Officers say there are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
